I love children’s books! They can be fun, imaginative and take readers (young and old!) on journeys that are magical, educational or just plain quirky!
I came across the book The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt a couple of years ago when I was Christmas shopping for my son. As I read it in the store I knew that I just had to purchase it. The concept of the story is so clever! Kids and adults will both laugh at the letters that the crayons leave for the main character, Duncan.
Each colour of crayon has their own complaint to Duncan, explaining why they are unhappy. From being used too much to not being used enough, from not liking colouring outside of the lines to not liking being used to colour the same things all the time – Duncan takes each complaint to heart and comes up with a fun way to make the crayons happy and hopefully convince them to stay.
This book is definitely one you can read over and over again with your kids and enjoy every time. It also might leave you wanting to grab some crayons and colour!
